Uta Grothkopf is the head librarian of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) library in Garching near Munich, Germany at ESO's headquarters. ESO builds and operates telescopes located in Chile, South America.

The library fulfills the information needs of ESO astronomers and engineers and develops digital services to give greater access to scientific content. The library also maintains the Telescope Bibliography (telbib), a database of refereed articles that use ESO data and provides ESO Management with bibliometric statistics, reports, and visualizations derived from this database.
